Joint Press Release from Charité and Bosch Health Campus
The internet can be overwhelming when searching for reliable information. Older people, especially those who didn’t grow up with the internet, often feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of health information available online and sometimes struggle to properly evaluate and categorize it. A recent nationwide survey on health literacy in Germany* has confirmed this once again. With their joint initiative, Sundi, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the Bosch Health Campus in Stuttgart, in collaboration with researchers from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, have developed a digital health platform that addresses precisely this issue.
Sundi is free of charge, ad-free, and specifically designed for people aged 55 and over, with a focus on prevention. The digital platform combines scientifically validated health information with an AI-powered virtual health assistant that provides personalized tips for a healthy lifestyle. With Sundi, the partners are pursuing the vision of prioritizing prevention.
“Prevention must be given the same priority in the German healthcare system as the treatment of illnesses – it is crucial for a better quality of life in old age. With Sundi, we are creating a digital, easily accessible platform that motivates and empowers people to actively take charge of their health and sustainably integrate healthy routines into their daily lives,” says Prof. Mark Dominik Alscher, Managing Director of the Bosch Health Campus.
“With Sundi, we are contributing our scientific expertise to a project that makes evidence-based knowledge accessible to everyone. Sundi offers access to easily understandable, scientifically sound health information and personalized recommendations for all,” says Prof. Heyo Kroemer, Chairman of the Board of Charité.
A personal health coach for the second half of life
Sundi is more than just an informational website for people aged 55 and over: This interactive digital platform can be individually tailored to users’ needs and offers easy-to-understand, practical tips for effortlessly integrating healthy habits into everyday life. The AI chatbot responds in over 80 languages, provides personalized recommendations, and motivates users to develop healthy routines. What makes Sundi special is its personalization, allowing users to define, implement, and track their own health goals – whether in the areas of sleep, exercise, nutrition, or stress management.
Sundi’s core areas:
Sleep: Tips for restful sleep and managing sleep disorders.
Exercise: Age-appropriate exercises to promote mobility and overall well-being.
Nutrition: Scientifically sound recommendations for a balanced and healthy diet.
Stress Management: Simple techniques for reducing stress and boosting well-being.
Sundi is written in easily understandable language and designed to be user-friendly, making it easy to navigate even for those without technical expertise.
