Berlin, 27 October 2021 Deutsche Bahn wants to become more female and continues to have its sights firmly set on the target of 30 per cent women in management by 2024. In the long term, the Group is aiming for equal participation. The DB Board of Management reaffirmed this today.

The proportion of female managers has already been increased through a whole range of measures. It now stands at 25 per cent. This is an important milestone on the way to achieving the goal of equal participation.

From our own recruitment strategy for women to flexible working time models and continuous monitoring of the filling of jobs with female candidates – the “30 measures for 30 per cent” programme is working.

In addition, the DB Management Board regularly monitors progress and results. The percentage of women is calculated on the basis of the Second Management Positions Act (FüPoGII), which came into force in August.

DB Chief Human Resources Officer Martin Seiler: “Even though women are already much more present in management positions at DB, DB is aiming for much more than the 30 per cent in the long term. Equal opportunities and equal participation are essential elements for living diversity in the sense of our umbrella strategy Strong Rail and a success factor for DB. That is why we have set our ambitious targets despite the Corona pandemic.”

Another measure is therefore for each manager to set an individual performance contribution for him or herself that pays towards the 30 per cent target. This could be mentoring a junior staff member, appointing women in their own department or supporting a women’s network.

One of the successes is that Deutsche Bahn won the Trendence Award for its World Women’s Month in March with numerous virtual events and two Guinness World Records. DB received 5 out of 5 stars from the magazine “Brigitte”, making it one of the best companies for women. The “Women’s Career Index” named the Group Newcomer of the Year.
