Toshiba CEO Masaaki Osumi to deliver IFA Keynote Speech

The Chief Executive Officer of Toshiba, Masaaki Osumi will deliver the opening keynote address at this year’s International Tradeshow for innovations in consumer electronics and home appliances (IFA).

IFA 2011, the 51st in the series will be held from September 2 – 7 at the Messe Berlin Fairgrounds.

According to a press information issued by organisers of what has since emerged as one of the largest electronics mega events in the world, Osumi will discuss, in his keynote, Japan’s recovery and new mission: “To build a better life.”

As part of his address themed “The Next Challenge for Japan: A New, symbiotic relationship between the digital home and energy,” Osumi is expected to detail Toshiba’s vision for how the consumer electronics industry can contribute to achieving this new mission.

The president and chief executive officer of Electrolux, Keith McLoughlin, will continue the series of keynotes at the 2011 IFA in Berlin on a discussion on the ways that consumers increasingly drive change and innovation in the home appliance and consumer electronics industries.

He is also expected to enumerate how companies must keep pace, stay relevant, transform and earn brand loyalty as the balance of power tips to the consumer.

Jens Heithecker, Executive Director of IFA stressed that the key programme at IFA was known for attracting global thinkers in the consumer electronics and home appliance sectors.

“Our distinguished keynoters bring a unique perspective on current events and innovations in technology that are changing the global business landscape,” says Heithecker.

IFA 2010, the world’s biggest and most important trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances. was a huge success during which Industry expectations were exceeded as well as huge growth in trade visitor attendance.

Last year’s event witnessed double-digit growth in rented display space to 134,400 square metres representing 11 percent over the previous fair, which alongside 1,423 exhibitors set a new record.
At IFA 2010, 3.5 billion euros of orders were made, itself a new record also exceeded last year’s figures.
