From 15 to 24 January 2027, Grüne Woche will welcome trade visitors and the general public to Berlin. Lower Saxony will be the partner state of the leading international trade fair for food, agriculture and horticulture.

Lower Saxony is to be the partner state for Grüne Woche 2027. The federal state will organise the official opening of the event and showcase itself to a national and international audience.

“For decades, the Grüne Woche has been bringing together people, markets and ideas from all over the world in Berlin. With Lower Saxony, we are gaining a partner state in 2027 that stands for a strong agricultural and food sector as well as for innovation and a forward-looking approach. We look forward to offering Lower Saxony an international stage at our Berlin exhibition centre,” says Dr Mario Tobias, CEO of Messe Berlin.

With an agricultural production value of around 18 billion euros, Lower Saxony is one of Germany’s most important agricultural regions. Farms, businesses in upstream and downstream sectors, and research and training institutions form a broadly based agricultural and food sector with stable value chains.

“Grüne Woche is an important showcase for agriculture and food, reaching far beyond Germany’s borders. And Lower Saxony, as Germany’s leading agricultural region, is the ideal partner. Here, the agricultural and food sectors are both a living tradition and a cutting-edge high-tech sector, and they literally embody our state’s down-to-earth approach and strengths. Innovative companies – and, above all, the people – shape our rural areas through their knowledge and daily work. I look forward to presenting this diversity together in Berlin,” says Olaf Lies, Minister-President of Lower Saxony.

With its new location campaign, “Niedersachen. Go Big in Germany”, the state is confidently highlighting its strengths, for example in the agricultural and food sectors. The aim at Grüne Woche is to show a wide audience that Lower Saxony is already making a big impact in this sector and, through the integration of state-of-the-art technology, is also ideally positioned for the future.

“Lower Saxony has been shaping Germany’s agricultural and food sectors for generations. As the partner state for Grüne Woche 2027, we want to put the people, businesses and ideas of our state in the spotlight and showcase the contribution Lower Saxony is making to the future of food, agriculture and rural areas. Grüne Woche provides the ideal platform for this,” says Miriam Staudte, Lower Saxony’s Minister for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection.

Every year, Grüne Woche brings together consumers, businesses, associations, politicians, academics and the media in Berlin. Alongside culinary delights from Germany and around the world, the focus is on current developments in the fields of food, agriculture and horticulture. Specialist events, congresses and international conferences round off the programme. Among the political highlights surrounding Grüne Woche is the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA), which includes the Berlin Conference of Agriculture Ministers.
