According to the strategy, Germany’s future engagement with African partner countries would focus on the socio-ecological transformation of the economy, the creation of good jobs for the rapidly growing young population and gender equality.

To achieve greater impact, the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) also intends to make greater use of European and multilateral levers.

The strategy was based on a six-month consultation process with European and African representatives from politics, business, civil society, science and youth.
