Berlin and Brandenburg with all their diversity are a magnet for tourism
Berlin, 29 April 2010 – The world’s longest-running air show offers an ideal opportunity to combine a visit to the fair with a short holiday or long weekend in the capital Berlin and the Brandenburg region.
When the ILA 2010 (8 to 13 June) opens its doors well over 200,000 trade visitors and aviation enthusiasts from all over the world will flock to the southern section of Berlin-Schönefeld Airport. Products and services from all parts of the aerospace industry will be on show, and there will be aircraft of all types and sizes on display both in the air and on the ground. The first three days of the ILA (8 to 10 June) will be reserved exclusively for trade visitors whereas on the weekend, when the grounds are open to the general public (11 to 13 June), the focus will be on a breathtaking programme of flying displays.
However, both the capital Berlin and the region of Brandenburg have a lot more to offer those visiting the ILA 2010. Not far from the ILA grounds the provincial capital of Potsdam, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, will impress visitors with its collection of unique historical palaces and gardens. Those keen to admire the countryside of the Mark in early summer with its rivers and palaces will find a variety of interesting ways to discover the region and to relax.
In the capital Berlin visitors to the ILA can enjoy the unique cultural attractions that more than 175 museums and art collections have to offer. For instance the exhibition of the German Historical Museum in Berlin entitled The XXth Century – People – Places -Times, is displaying a photo collection spanning two decades. Parallel with the open days for the general public at the ILA Berlin Air Show the 6th berlin biennale, the International Festival for Contemporary Art will be opening its doors. And even when the ILA closes in the evenings the German capital is still buzzing with life. More than 6,000 restaurants, trendy bars and legendary clubs beckon visitors to enjoy the city’s vibrant nightlife. Enchanting musicals, breathtaking shows and witty cabaret performances represent entertainment at its highest level. The unique repertoire that 150 theatres and three opera houses have to offer is a source of cultural enjoyment. More than 100,000 hotel beds are available in Berlin, the city with the lowest prices for overnights in all of Europe.

Admission charges
• Trade visitors: day ticket 50 euros, unlimited admission 125 euros
(includes a service package and catalogue, minimum age 18)
• Day ticket for the general public: 19 euros
• Reduced-rate day tickets (schoolchildren/ students/ disabled persons (handicapped ID required)/ civilian and military service conscripts): 12 euros
• Children under the age of six will be admitted free of charge on the days open to the general public
Bus and rail shuttles to the ILA
A free bus shuttle will operate to and from the ILA grounds and the rail station at Berlin-Schönefeld, the S-Bahn stations at Altglienicke and Grünau and the U-Bahn station at Rudow. On the days open to the general public buses will operate more frequently, at intervals of up to once a minute. Rail and bus shuttles may also be used by visitors who have not yet obtained admission tickets to the ILA. Visitors travelling by car
As in previous years visitors arriving by car will be able to use the main parking area (Parkplatz Nord). A special exit will direct you there. All-day parking costs 10 euros for coaches, 5 euros for cars and 2.50 euros for motorcycles. A shuttle taking only a few minutes will transport visitors directly to the exhibition grounds, which is where the ticket offices are located. Security checks will be carried out at the entrances. Important information for drivers: on arrival please follow the signs to the parking areas at the ILA.
