On Monday, September 7, 2020, Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was elected as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), at the 57th ECOWAS Summit, in Niamey, the capital of Niger.
The headline above was what Akufo Addo’s nephew, Gabby Otchere Darko wrote on his Twitter feed on 31st January 2015 when John Dramani Mahama was elected Chairman of ECOWAS. Five years later, Gabby Otchere Darko’s uncle is elected the Chairman of ECOWAS.
