The Way the Rabbits Jump – Letter About the Supreme Court of Ghana

The Chief Justice of Ghana, Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah

The Chief Justice of Ghana, Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah must endeavour to uphold the laws of Ghana. He should demonstrate that the Supreme Court of Ghana is really independent of all political machinations.

Asia 728x90

Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah, can you subvert the will of the people of Ghana? Must you subvert the will of the people of Ghana? Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah, will you subvert the will of the people of Ghana? And for what reason?

Even though majority of the Justices sitting on the Supreme Court were appointed by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah and his colleagues must be, to quote Lord Denning, former Master of the Rolls in England, “unbiased and impartial interpreters of the law.”

“They should not allow their decisions to be actuated by political prejudice.”

The Justices of Ghana’s Supreme Court are called upon to be guided by the Constitution. Bending of the rules to satisfy the machinations of political parties has no place in a democratic dispensation.

A nation’s Supreme Court is above party political persuasion. Ghana’s Supreme Court should be no exception.

Hopefully, Justices of Ghana’s Supreme Court will interpret the law just as the Letter and Spirit of the Law implies.
