The Way the Rabbits Jump

Letter About the Inspector General of Police in Ghana, from AO & KN  in Accra

Inspector General of Police, James Oppong-Boanuh
Asia 728x90

The Ghana Police Service under Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh, as the Inspector General is slowly but surely turning itself into a dysfunctional institution set to bend the country’s Constitution to intimidate the peace-loving people of Ghana.

When a sitting Member of Parliament threatens to burn his political opponents alive, IGP James Oppong-Boanuh sees nothing wrong with that. When another sitting Member of Parliament suggested John Dramani Mahama should consider inaugurating himself as President of the Republic of Ghana, that, for the IGP is a crime.

Thank you James Oppong-Boanuh for your modern form of policing. Some animals in Ghana are more important than other animals. Great! That is Ghana under our famous Human Rights lawyer. Bravo!

It looks as if this IGP is a threat to the Fourth Republic of Ghana. The reason is, when agents of Akufo-Addo commit criminal acts, he turns the other way. But when any Ghanaian who does not, in the estimation of James Oppong-Boanuh, belong to the inner-circle of Akufo-Addo, then that becomes a crime for the police to investigate.

Mr James Oppong-Boanuh, by his actions, is deliberately eroding the fundamental human rights of Ghanaians. He is committing treason. In short, he is carrying out a Coup d’état by the police to keep a leader desperate to hung-on to power in office.

Mr James Oppong-Boanuh by his actions against the media and some members of Parliament is positioning himself as a candidate for the International Criminal Court. Free speech in Ghana today is under threat.Ghanaians dare not criticize the president. You criticize Akufo-Addo and you end up in police cells. You receive death threats.

Mr James Oppong-Boanuh is one of the Malignant Tumor cells implanted by Akufo-Addo, that is invading state institutions in Ghana and destroying them.

Under his tenure as the Inspector General of Police, armed robbery, rampant murders, indiscipline on the highways are on the increase and yet he finds it normal. James Oppong-Boanuh rather devotes his energy directing Akufo-Addo’s vigilante groups infiltrated into the Ghana Police Service against opposition figures, journalists and those he perceive as enemies of Akufo-Addo.

Since independence in 1957, Ghana has never had such a hoodlum, dumb head, as the Inspector General of Police. Ghana deserves better than this criminal cell parading as the Inspector General of Police.

But Mr James Oppong-Boanuh will fail in his diabolical attempts to derail the Fourth Republican democratic dispensation in Ghana. He will surely fail because the Ghana Police Service is made up of men and women with proving calibre and honesty; officers who have dedicated themselves to serving the Constitution and the people of Ghana.
