Slovenians Elect Ghanaian Doctor for Mayor

Peter Bossman, a Ghana-born doctor, is to become the first black mayor in the former East bloc – in the Slovenian coastal town of Piran.

Peter Bossman and some of his supporters celebrate his victory in the Slovenian Adriatic town of Piran yesterday.

Bossman said the people of Piran elected him on his merits and not on the basis of the colour of his skin.

His work as a medical doctor, he said were highly appreciated by the people hence his election to the office of mayor of the coastal town.
