The club said In a statement regarding the move: “Manchester United is delighted to confirm that the club has reached agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo, subject to agreement of personal terms, visa and medical.”

The deal returns Ronaldo, 36, to Old Trafford 12 years after he left the Premier League to join Real Madrid. Ronaldo will sign a two-year contract, a 15 million euros ($17.7 million) deal with the potential for 8 million euros more ($9.4 million) in add-ons, ESPN reported.

Ronaldo did not train with Juventus Friday. Instead, he was on a private jet, and Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri later confirmed Ronaldo had asked to leave the club before the transfer deadline on Aug. 31.

“Yesterday, Cristiano Ronaldo communicated to me that he has no intention of remaining at Juventus,” Allegri told a news conference earlier this month. “For this reason, he has not been selected.”

Ronaldo joined Juventus in 2018 after nine seasons with Real Madrid. He transferred to Madrid 2009 after six seasons at Manchester United. It was there under Alex Ferguson’s management that Ronaldo became a global icon. During that spell, he scored 118 goals in 292 games and won nine trophies.

Ronaldo is a five-time Ballon d’Or winner who has won more than 30 major trophies during his career. His résumé, includes five UEFA Champions League titles, four FIFA Club World Cups, seven league titles in England, Spain and Italy, and the European Championship for Portugal.
