The Hamburg-based infectiologist Prof. Marylyn Addo is the medical doctor of the year. As the awarding authorities announced, the UKE physician is distinguished with the GERMAN MEDICAL AWARD on 17 November in Duesseldorf.
Prof. Addo will receive the award for her research on a vaccine against the SARS-CoV-2 pathogen. She and her team have recently started clinical trials for a possible vaccine that could reduce the further spread of the coronavirus. This is the fourth time the award has been presented. Prof. Marylyn Martina Addo,50, is a German virologist and the German Centre for Infection Research Head of Infection Disease at the University Medical Centre in Hamburg-Eppendorf.
