The National Chief Imam observed that there are over 1.8 billion young people in the world, 90 percent of whom live in developing countries.

According to him, the youth constitute a critical segment of the world population who need to combat all kinds of threats to global peace and stability.

He made the called in address to Muslims Communities in Ghana and visitors from the West Africa Sub-region on Saturday 13th November, 2021 at the 2021 National Maulid – the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad held in Accra.

The National Executive Secretary at the Office of National Chief Imam, Alhaji Awasu who spoke on behalf of the Chief Imam said the Muslim leader, however, contends that the youth cannot play a meaningful role in the fight against global insecurity and instability if they are not properly educated.

His Eminence, therefore, advises the youth to pursue all kinds of education that would strategically position them to respond to the challenges of contemporary times and contribute effectively to human security and global stability.

“This reminds us of the following words of Prophet Mohammed: Seek knowledge from the cradle to grave. The Noble Prophet is also quoted as saying: Seeking knowledge is compulsory for male and female Muslims.

“Undoubtedly, these words of the Noble Prophet corroborate modern research findings that knowledge empowers citizens to be responsible and successful in all civilized societies,” he reiterated.
