The 16th International Conference on Advanced Technologies & Treatments for Diabetes (ATTD 2023), the leading conference on developments in diabetes treatments and technology, is kicking off today. From the 22nd of February until the 25th, over 3900 international participants, experts and industry leaders are gathering in Berlin to discuss the latest updates in the field.

Unique about the ATTD Conference is the focus on new technologies and medical devices. The International Fair of New Technologies in Diabetes has grown into a platform for start-ups to showcase their advanced scientific knowledge and technological achievements, to promote and enhance their development, gain feedback and make contacts to further develop it. Support and visibility will help fuel opportunities for the Tech Fair participants.

Conference Co-Chair, Professor Moshe Phillip said of the ATTD Tech Fair, “ATTD is the right platform for bringing together researchers from academic world, key opinion leaders and inventors for exchanging view and ideas. It creates a link between new inventions to potential industrial companies, venture capital and investors interested in funding further developments, or commercialization of inventions or products.”

Conference Chairs Prof. Moshe Phillip and Prof. Tadej Battelino are hosting their 16th meeting, that continues to grow and inspire. With the wider goal to create a community of like-minded professionals that together strive to change the lives of people with diabetes, they continue to present a meeting that holds that objective in mind.

The Conference program offers a variety of scientific sessions focusing on the latest research data. Contributed to the program are nearly 700 abstract submissions. Session topics include digital clinics, decision support systems/advisors, big data and artificial intelligence-based decision support systems, glucose sensors, closed-and open-loop systems, artificial pancreas, devices for diabetic prevention, new insulins and new medications, insulin pumps, and more.

Professor Moshe Phillip continued, “Diabetes technology is maturing. We must perfect it and make it really accessible in day-to-day life for most people with diabetes. The health-care professionals must partner more than ever with innovators and manufacturers in the process of wide-spread implementation and continuous improvement of the technology and treatments for improving the life of people with diabetes.”

ATTD Yearbook
The ATTD Conference goes hand in hand with the publication of the ATTD Yearbook. The 14th Yearbook (ATTD 2022 Yearbook) is available via the ATTD Conference website and the website of the publisher, Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., as of the first day of the meeting.

The speed of developments of new and advanced technologies and devices for the treatment of diabetes annually results in numerous manuscripts in medical journals, and the Yearbook summarizes the most important articles in the field. One of the highlights of the Conference is the ATTD Yearbook session, that will take place on Friday the 24th of February. Authors of the book will each present their chapter in a session that will give you all you need to know about the main findings and changes in the diabetes field.

Awards
During the closing ceremony, the 2023 Insulin Centennial Award will be awarded. Following a 3-year celebration around the 100 year insulin anniversary, this Insulin Centennial Award is an initiative of ATTD in collaboration with Lilly Diabetes, to recognize the value and importance of continued innovation in diabetes, and award an exemplary individual for their work within diabetes innovation.

About ATTD

The International Conference on Advanced Technologies and Treatments for Diabetes (ATTD) was established in 2008 with the aim to connect clinicians, scientists, engineers, medical corporations, investors, start-ups, regulators, and individuals with diabetes to facilitate the development and implementation of novel diabetes technologies, medications, and integrated treatment solutions. Distinguished international professionals discuss and disseminate information on the latest technologies and treatments in our field.

The ATTD Education Portal is a supporting activity of the ATTD annual conferences, that offers continuous education for the ATTD and diabetes community. Conference materials, e-learning modules, webcasts and industry materials are freely accessible to all. The ATTD Education Portal is now powered by UNLOK, an easy-to-use platform that helps medical professionals access innovative, effective, and multi-disciplinary digital education.
