A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Gordon Edudzi Tameklo has said the booing and heckling of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Global Citizens Festival in Accra on Saturday September 24.
However, Mr Edudzi said, what happened to the President is a clear signal that the people are unhappy with the way he is governing the country.
The private legal practitioner further indicated that persons around the president should tell him the real state of affairs in the country in order for him to act in the interest of the people.
Speaking on the New Day show with Johnnie Hughes on TV3 Monday September 26, he said “Unfortunate as the incident may be I think that persons working around the president and the managers of the current economy need to begin to pick some of these signals especially persons within the National Security.
“You cannot always tell the president what he wants to hear, the very moment a president closes his ears to all other things this is what you will have.
“This morning, with the greatest of respects, the Council of State members, they be bow down their heads, all the advisors of the president, they should bow down their heads.
“It is the kind of advise that they have been giving the president that is what has taken this country to the doldrums.”
Mr Akufo-Addo during the event delivered a keynote address amidst jeering from the crowd.
He spoke about the government of Ghana’s involvement in eradicating poverty and upholding national unity.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I extend a hearty Akwaaba, our word of welcome, from a very hospitable people. To all of you, who have come from afar and wide, to our vibrant city of Accra, Ghana’s capital, to join us on this great occasion,” the President said at the event amidst the heckling.
