President Akufo-Addo has withdrawn his appointment of Ken Ofori-Atta as caretaker Minister at the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

A statement from the Presidency on Friday said the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, will instead assume responsibility for the Trade Ministry.

This comes on the back of the public outrage that greeted the decision to appoint the embattled Finance Minister, Mr. Ofori-Atta as caretaker Minister for the Ministry of Trade and Industry following the resignation of Alan Kyerematen.

The appointment of Jinapor takes effect from Monday, 16th January 2023, pending the appointment of a substantive replacement for the outgoing Minister, Mr. Alan Kyerematen.
