The Ghana Armed Forces High Command should not allow themselves to be misused as President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s killing machine.
On Tuesday 29 June 2021, two persons were shot dead, while four others sustained gunshot injuries when some protesting youths of Ejura Sekyedumase clashed with military and police personnel.
Since the death of the 40-year-old Ibrahim Mohammed, aka Kaaka, the youth of Ejura Sekyedumase say they are willing to sacrifice their lives to get justice for him.
The Ghana Armed Forces High Command should exercise restraint in the way it conducts itself particularly the way and manner it handles Ghanaian citizens.
Indiscriminate killing of civilians took place at the following places in the country: Ayawaso West Wagon, Techiman South, Kumasi where seven young men, popularly known as Zongo Seven were murdered. In recent days, Ejura in the Ashanti Region, and Agbogbloshie in the Greater Accra Region. No one has so far been arrested for these deaths.
The question is: Can the Ghana Army High Command confirm that those carrying out the indiscriminate killing of Ghanaians are really members of the Ghana Armed Forces? Or, are they members of Akufo-Addo’s terror groups infiltrated into the Armed Forces?
No well-trained professional soldier will open fire with lethal weapons on innocent unarmed civilians exercising their constitutional right to demonstrate peacefully.
The activities of some members of the Ghana Armed Forces are tarnishing the image of the forces. It is high time right-thinking members of the Ghana Armed Forces take steps to restore the sinking image and reputation of the Force.
