Budget for absentee ministers’ won’t be approved in their absence – Minority

The Minority in Parliament has sent a stern warning to absentee Ministers the House will not approve budget estimates for their sectors without their presence.

Some Cabinet Ministers including those who double as MPs have been absent since the presentation of the 2023 budget with some in Qatar to watch the world cup.

Speaking during the presentation of the business statement, Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu said the Ministers will have to be present during the consideration of their budget estimates in order to secure approval

The Tamale South MP also stated the censure motion against Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta will fail without the support of the Majority urging the NPP MPs to throw their weight behind it.

Deputy Majority Leader, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, however, rejected the invitation from Haruna to the Majority to join forces in ousting the Finance Minister.

According to him the censure motion of the Minority has already failed.
