The renominated DCE, Richmond Kofi Amponsah polled 13 out of 22 valid votes cast in a confirmation election conducted by the Electoral Commission on Monday, September 27, 2021.

The renomination of the DCE who is Dean of Municipal and District Chief Executives in the Eastern Region was greeted with stiff opposition within the party in the constituency.

A group calling itself CITEG Ghana petitioned the NPP party not to renominate the DCE stating that he is incompetent and divisive.

According to the group, the actions and inactions of the Achiase DCE caused the party so much and affected the NPP’s electoral fortunes in the 2020 General Elections.

Meanwhile, the DCE nominee for Birim South district and Okere District Asare Danso, and Kenneth Daniel Addo both secured 100 per cent votes respectively.
