Thousands of intensive care and allied healthcare professionals from around the world will converge October 3 – 7, 2015 in Berlin, a vibrant, trendy city with an unmistakable wealth of culture and art for LIVES 2015.

Renowned for the breadth and depth of it’s educational and scientific programme, this edition of the Society’s annual congress will deliver on its goal to update clinicians, nursing staff and allied health professionals on the latest and most relevant advances in critical care and emergency medicine.

This year there will be 11 postgraduate courses adapted to suit potential European Diploma in Intensive Care (EDIC) I & II candidates, as well as those more ‘senior’ intensive care professionals who would like to refresh their knowledge and update crucial skills in a broad range of topics (including sepsis and haemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, basic and advanced ultrasound courses, plus many others!)

The scientific programme opened on  Sunday with the “NEXT Day” led by top international experts and young specialists who presented on, discuss and debate the hottest topics in intensive care medicine. In the days to follow, delegates will be treated to an original scientific programme with 12 continuous parallel sessions and nearly 2000 lectures, presentations, debates, tutorials and interactive educational sessions – presented by more than 250 international experts.

A truly international event, LIVES 2015 attendees and faculty will be coming from all over the world. At the menu: outstanding scientific exchanges, high-quality education lectures, and intense networking. Again, this year LIVES will present three entire sessions devoted to the first presentation of results from 18 large, long-awaited, prospective randomised trials or cohorts, says ESCIM President, Daniel de Backer and Massimo Antonelli, President-elect in a welcome message to participants.

In addition to these, says the message, close to 2000 lectures will be delivered by the world’s most eminent experts and more than 1000 original presentations will be discussed in Oral and Poster discussion sessions.

What is ESCIM?

ESCIM is a society of Members of various origins – physicians, trainees, nurses and allied health professionals, industrial partners…as well as nationalities that share the same values for patient-centered care of the critically ill.

Innovation will as usual, be central at LIVES 2015: Onsite, congress delegates can visit the e-Poster Corners and following the congress, all e-Posters can be accessed online through ESCIM’s comprehensive library: “e-Posters Viewing Space” at www.escim.org
